Terms of use

Last updated 28 October 2026

These terms cover this website and the work Level One, run by Dean Finlayson, Edinburgh, Scotland ("Level One", "we", "us") does for business clients. Your written quote sits alongside them. Where the two differ, the quote wins.

Using this website

You're welcome to read and share what's on this site. Please don't copy it wholesale or present it as your own. We keep the information here accurate and up to date, but it's general information, and your written quote is what counts for any piece of work.

Quotes

Before anything is built, we agree the scope, what you'll receive, the timeline and the price in writing. Work starts once you've accepted that quote. Anything outside it is quoted separately before it's done.

Building and handover

We build in stages, so the first piece goes live early. Each system is tested against your own past enquiries, documents or questions before launch. At handover you get a plain-English runbook that explains every part and what to do when something is flagged.

Timelines start from sign-off and from the day we get the access we need to your systems. If access or information arrives late, the timeline moves with it.

Monthly plans

A monthly plan keeps your system running, monitored and improving. It includes monitoring, fixes, updates as your business changes, a regular report and one improvement each month.

Monthly plans run for a minimum of 3 months. After that they roll on month by month, and either of us can end one with 30 days' notice in writing.

Running costs

Some systems use services that charge by use, such as call minutes, text messages, software seats or ad spend. These are billed at cost, listed on your monthly invoice, and kept within a monthly cap we agree with you up front. We won't go over the cap without asking you first.

Payment

Payment terms are set out in your quote. If an invoice is overdue, we may pause work or the monthly plan until it's paid, after telling you first.

Ownership

You own what we build for you. Accounts, data and workflows are set up in your name. If you end the monthly plan, you keep everything. We may reuse general methods and know-how, but never your data or anything specific to your business.

Your part

To build and run your systems we need timely access to the tools involved and accurate information about how your business works. You're responsible for the content you approve, such as replies, scripts and posts, and for making sure you're allowed to contact the people your systems contact.

Support

Support is provided during the hours set out in your plan. Urgent problems are dealt with first.

Liability

We take care with everything we build, and we fix problems with our own work promptly. Our total liability for any piece of work is limited to the fees you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim. We aren't liable for indirect losses such as lost profit, or for problems caused by third-party services outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts deal with any dispute.
